Grand Theft Auto VI is still in development, and despite the barrage of online rumors, plans are still in place for its release in 2025.

Surprisingly, Rockstar have now added BattlEye anti-cheat to Grand Theft Auto V, and sadly it seems they have not enabled the support for Linux desktop and Steam Deck with Valve's Proton.

Even if this particular report is false, the sheer scope and ambition of Grand Theft Auto 6 means a delay could occur at any moment. GTA 6 will need to be bug tested to the gills, and will require more patches than a 40-a-day smoker looking to kick the habit.
